DUENDE, 2012

This piece hangs from the ceiling and hovers above the floor, a ghostly presence.

I first modeled the cone at 1/12 of the final size, then scaled it up with a paper pattern. I had 5 oxford shirts in shades of tan and soft yellow to use for the sculpture. Cutting and piecing these to build the cone with a combination of economy and improvisation led to this particular arrangement of seams.
